What owning a hover board means

Well Back to the Future is now in the past, and is, and will always be, one of our favourite movie trilogies (Along with Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and the Hobbit trilogies, and Indiana Jones, oh and the original superman movies, but getting off track). For the Lovely Clan Daddies birthday, we purchased him movie memorabilia, Back to the Future movie memorabilia to be precise, a framed copy of Grays Sports Almanac and a replica hover board. And I must say they are really, really awesome 🙂

See everyone needs a replica hover board. And no it doesn’t hover.

A new hover board

But… do you know what this means (yes a quote!) we have absolutely run out of things we need. These were really what the hell do we buy presents.

It means the house already has too much stuff, and not just junk, too much practical stuff, an over abundance of towels, sheets, mugs, ties, socks, clothes, dvds, books, bags, gadgets – jeez we even have 4 cameras in a drawer that never get used as we use our phones.

I know I just shouldn’t read into this so much, but now I’m thinking Christmas, that other time of the year when stuff starts being bought in, in droves. Grandparents are asking what do they need, the answer is nothing. We just don’t need anything.  We have just started a process of de-cluttering.

I don’t want to be one of these people who says buy them experiences, or dictate what people can buy, or give them money. But when I say I don’t know to the question, I really don’t have any suggestions.

I’m not really even sure what I can possibly buy the kids this year. Maybe chickens for Oxfam, donations to something, all the kind of things kids really want like clothes and shoes.

At a loss. Shopping will be long and tiring this year. On a good note you can never have too many water pistols or water bombs at Christmas time, so I can at least buy heaps of them 🙂
